Keystone United and its supporters gathered last Saturday for the 9th Annual Leif Erikson Day Event.
To keep this event family friendly and to keep the focus on heritage and tradition instead of politics, Keystone United was able once again to outsmart the radical left and have their second biggest Leif Erikson Day Celebration yet.
Prior to the march, Keystone United assembled at a local Philly Park for some delicious traditional meals and some great time with friends and family from all over the world. People this year came from as far away as Australia to attend this amazing event.
Once the sun set over the houses of Boathouse Row, all attendees marched proudly and triumphantly to the Thorfinn Karisenfi statue on Kelly Drive. With flares and flags held up high and proud, Matt Heimbach and Steve Smith (among others) attested to the impact of Leif Erikson’s great journey and on the importance of how – now more than ever – we need to stick together and stay true to our ancestors, in order to hold on to what Leif Erikson discovered so many years ago.
Many thanks go out to everyone who made the journey and stood proudly – despite the vandalism of the statue – shoulder to shoulder next to one another and the historical statue of Thorfinn Karlsefni.
